About Zuleika Fray

Zuleika Fray paints the complexities of the multifaceted inner landscapes of the self. Raw, fragmented and immersive, through the playful layering of texture, earthy limited colours, and abstract form. A multi-disciplinary artist, using both photography and painting. The transient nature of memory as it surfaces and fades, playing with nostalgia, always in motion.

With a background spanning nearly two decades as a professional photographer, Fray returned to her roots in painting in 2020, reigniting a practice she had begun early in her artistic journey before training as a photographer. This long hiatus infused her return to painting with both a renewed sense of curiosity and a spirit of endurance.

Fray currently lives and works in Plymouth, Devon, drawing inspiration from her formative years growing up in both London and Falmouth, Cornwall. Her work invites viewers to navigate the raw edges of their own humanity while embracing the imperfect beauty found within the fragmented narratives of life.
